Product FAQ
What woods do people typically choose?
Our most popular species (see more on the Materials page) are Red Oak, White Oak, Black Walnut, European Beech, Purpleheart, and Wenge. These are all durable, attractive, and classic choices. You can also mix two species in a single piece.
For unique looks, we also offer specialty woods (custom order):
Bubinga, Jatoba, Padouk, Sycamore, Chechen, White Ash, Zebrawood.
Email [email protected] to book a consultation.
Do you use MDF or particle board?
No. We never use these materials in our furniture.
Details are available on our Materials page.
Can you stain one wood to look like another?
We don’t do faux finishes to mimic species, unless as part of a custom order.
- Stains can copy color but not the grain or character of a real hardwood.
- We prefer natural, authentic hardwoods.
What finishes do you use? Are they non-toxic?
We use natural tung oil, UV-cured hardwax oil, or a food-safe butcher block conditioner on all products.
- All are non-toxic with 0% VOC.
- You won’t notice any odor or residue.
How do you care for your furniture?
It’s simple:
- Wipe with a damp rag and mild soap (like hand soap).
- Regular care keeps your furniture looking great for a lifetime.
How do you care for your spoons?
- Wash by hand with mild soap and warm water, then dry right away.
- Avoid soaking or putting in the dishwasher.
- Optionally sand and reapply butcher block conditioner to keep the wood nourished and protected. We cook regularly and refresh our spoons 1-2 times per year.
